Practical Life

Toddlers love to bake. Here are a few of our favorite recipes:

  • French Bread - This is the bread we make everyday in class. It is almost impossible to mess up and you can add chopped fruit or nuts to make it special. The toddlers love to knead the dough.

  • Banana Bread - This is a fun recipe because toddlers love mashing the bananas!

  • Pizza - Or you can make your own homemade dough or use a pre-made dough or shell. Toddlers love to help spread the sauce, sprinkle the cheese and add the toppings.

  • Yogurt cake

  • Providing children with clothes that are easily fastened or have no fastening will aid a child’s independence.

  • Offering your child only two choices for clothing (2 pants and 2 shirts) limits their choices to something you’re okay with them wearing and still encourages their decision making and independence. Try using the bottom dresser drawer for this, or a flat basket.

  • Sweep or mop the floor - Toddler's love the motion of sweeping and mopping! Investing in nice quality mop and broom set is a great option, because these can be used for years.

  • Clean the windows - Young children love this activity! You can create your own window washing set by purchasing a small squeegee, mini spray bottle, and wash cloth. You can store this is small caddy or basket.
