Substitute Classroom Assistant

We're looking for a caring and dependable Substitute Primary Assistant who will:

  • Support the Lead Guide in creating a warm, peaceful, and inspiring classroom environment

  • Step confidently into the classroom and help maintain consistency in the children's daily routines

  • Bring energy, kindness, patience, and heart to every day

  • Support children's independence while respecting each child's individual pace of development

  • Help maintain order, beauty, and a prepared environment

  • Collaborate positively with Guides and staff throughout the school

  • Be flexible and comfortable working with different classrooms and age groups

  • Help create a safe, nurturing environment where children feel respected and capable

You might be our perfect fit if you have:

  • A genuine love for working with primary-aged children, ages 3 to 6

  • A warm, engaging, and patient presence

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • An open-minded, team-oriented approach

  • The ability to stay calm and adaptable while multitasking

  • An appreciation for order, beauty, and peaceful environments

  • A willingness to learn about and support the Montessori method

  • Patience, enthusiasm, reliability, and a positive attitude

  • Previous childcare, classroom, or Montessori experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right person

Details to know:

  • Substitute position for the 2026/27 school year

  • Flexible, as-needed schedule based on classroom coverage needs

  • Primary classroom experience, ages 3 to 6

  • Opportunities may be available during the summer break
